coloane
macau | travelled in 2016 | posted on feb 21, 2016
as i wrote before, macau is crowded, very crowded. especially the northern part, macau peninsula, is just insanely densely populated. but if you turn around and head to the other end of macau, then you will be quite surprised.
coloane village is a small town at the southern coast of macau. here you find just a few streets, old portuguese-style buildings, the chapel of st. francis xavier - coloane's main attraction -, some chinese temples and just a few people. it is a relaxed area to explore, even when the weather is not so good. and yes, it was ******* cold, when we were there. but i guess that at least the local coffee shop owners where quite happy about that, as everyone needed a hot drink after some time strolling around.
i guess coloane will change in the near future. not far away from coloane village, new high-rise residence towers are being build. so the population of this area has already tripled in the last years.
