'eua
tonga | travelled in 2015 | posted on sep 21, 2020
most of the 90,000 tourists who visit tonga each year usually skip 'eua and head for the islands of vava'u or ha'apai, which offer the typical sand and palm tree covered south sea island cliché.
'eua instead is a rocky island with altitudes above 300 m. most of its 88 square kilometers are covered with tropical rainforest. and in between about 5000 people live in 15 villages.
but for us 'eua was the first choice as it is the perfect spot for getting in touch with humpback whales.
