located west of shibuya station is shibuya ekimae kōsaten - japanese for "intersection in front of shibuya station" - which ist probably the most famous intersection of tokyo, japan, or even the world.
it is a so-called "all-walking intersection". that means, there is a separate traffic light phase only for pedestrians, where the intersection can be crossed in all directions - even diagonally. however, the intersection is mainly known for the fact that at peak times up to 15,000 people cross the streets at a time from and to all directions, usually and surprisingly without bumping into each other.
thus, it is the most frequented intersection in the world, featured in famous movies like 'lost in translation' and often used an icon or cliché for the busyness of tokyo.
