thai punks

originally, our plan for yesterday night had been going to parking toys, a great live music bar in northern bangkok, to listen to another great live perfomance of trix'o'treat, an amazing thai rockabilly band. but unfortunately their gig had been cancelled short-handed.
as we have become friends with the members of band, we had a chat with their sound engineer who also just had heard about the cancellation. he told us that he is also playing bass in a band that would perform later this night in another pub in the same area.
would we like to see his band play? of course we would!
to make sure that we would find the place, he wrote the address on a scrap of paper in thai. he told us to just show it to a taxi driver. we did as we had been told. well, "in the same area" can be an elastic word in a city like bangkok. however, the taxi driver did find the right street, but not the bar. after some unsuccessful searching we decided to get off and ask somebody. luckily this somebody knew the bar. which was still quite far away. but being typically thai-style helpful, he spontaneously offered to bring us there with his scooter. so, one thai man and two farangs on one scooter without headlights at night. if i think about this again... nah, better not.
so finally we made it to this cozy hard to find bar. the bass player was already there. and so were his friends - a pleasant bunch of thai punks.
well, we had a great night. loud, wild and maybe a little too boozy. but the day after, aspirin did a great job.
i recommend playing the music while watching the images. the music won't stop when you open the images.
