the turtle

one morning, snorkeling at a beautiful beach in samoa, i met a turtle that was looking for food. at first this nice fellow was a little shy, but after 10 minutes it apperently decided that i was posing no threat and allowed me to get closer without swimming away (some photos where taken with a distance of only 10-20 cm).

so we stayed together for almost 1.5 hours. but unfortunately i had no choice but to leave then. because i did not plan to stay so long in the water, i only had applied some suncream and was not wearing a t-shirt - what i usually do to protect myself against the sun when i float in the water with my back up for a long time.

so additionally to these photos i also got one of the worst sunburns ever...
