suva municipal market

i already wrote before that suva is a great place to stroll the streets for some days. but its main attraction and the beating heart of fiji's capital is the suva municipal market.
it is a quite big market area, consisting af one main hall and several shops and street stalls araund this building where you can buy everything you need to prepare your daily delicacies. fruits, vegetables and spices can be found in the main market hall, fish is sold at the street stalls outside and meat can be found in the shops. and of course, being in fiji, one section of the market, the upper floor of the main building, is solely dedicated to kava (see my post about kava).
i know, i repeat myself when i say that i love exploring the market areas of any country (see mascat fish market, maguro, khlong toei market, mae klong railway market, maha chai). it is always very interesting to see what different kinds of food are used in the local kitchens. very often i see fruits, vegetables, fish or whatever, that i have never seen or tasted before. sometimes this can be tried right on location and sometimes the sellers recommend where to go to eat this kind of food.
yes, markets are fantastic places - for meeting people, for taking pictures and of course foodwise.
